The Evening Post is on our side
7th May 2009
In the past, like many national and local newspapers, the Evening Post has frequently questioned the ethics and effectiveness of speed cameras. However, Nottingham's Evening Post published on April 15th, the compelling evidence that safety cameras in our county are doing exactly what they are suposed to do - cut down road accidents and save lives.
In their editorial headed, "Speed cameras worthy of praise", the Evening Post said, "This newspaper has always been clear that the use of speed cameras can only be justified if they contribute to road safety. And on this evidence, that contribution is significant."
The newspaper printed a two-page spread on how misery on the roads were cut by speed cameras, quoting that deaths and injuries on roads with speed cameras were down by 48%.
